Stepping Stone Ceremonies

Roberta was exceptional to work with. She spent nearly two hours meeting with us as we were "interviewing" officiants and was warm and welcoming from the start. The interview worked both ways and she included details from this conversation in our ceremony, which added a lovely personal touch. Roberta is very tech-savvy and communicated with me regularly through e-mail. She was very understanding and flexible (skills derived, I'm sure, from her former career as a professor) with the multiple changes I asked her to make on the final draft of my ceremony. On the day of the wedding, Roberta arrived early to our wedding venue and was flexible (again!) when our Maitre'D asked her to make some changes. She was (again!) tech-savvy and read the ceremony off her kindle (many of my guests commented on how "cool" this was!). Many of my guests were impressed with her speaking abilities and wondered if she was a friend or family member by the way she was able to speak about us as though she'd known us for years. I would highly recommend Roberta as a wedding officiant. I have not one complaint!

Roberta is absolutely amazing!! The ceremony she created and performed for us was far beyond anything we could have imagined or wanted. She really captured who we are and who we are together – and it was truly a one-of-a-kind ceremony prepared personally for us - it could not have been more special. We received many complements from guests who commented on how much they loved our Officiant and that it was one of the best ceremonies they had ever witnessed. Not only did the product exceed our expectations, the process itself was a pleasure. Roberta is very warm, responsive, flexible, and she listens. Roberta was a wonderful officiant. She took the time to meet us and get to know what we envisioned for our ceremony. She also compiled many different options for readings, vows, and ideas to tie together the three very different cultures we were joining together at our wedding. She wrote a wonderful speech about my husband and I, using both her observations and our own words to create a special, meaningful ceremony that had our family and friends laughing and crying along with us. She was also very flexible, changing the whole ceremony a few days before the wedding in order to accommodate us. I would highly recommend her services for any couple looking for a unique, touching and personal ceremony - especially a couple with different cultural or religious backgrounds who are looking to find a tasteful and special way to combine them. Roberta was amazing! We met with three celebrants and she was our favorite from the getgo. Not only is she great at what she does, but she's a great person too, she volunteers at a womens prison in her spare time! Her questionnairre (out of the other celebrants we looked at) was the most complete, and unlike the others she actually had us complete a good portion of it before we met with her so that she would know about us beforehand and could already give us ideas for a ceremony. She reminded us of all the things we had to do (marriage liscence, pick a reading, write vows, etc) and kept us on track. We loved personalizing our ceremony, writing our own vows, and making our wedding ceremony about US and OUR LOVE. We got so many compliments on how beautiful it was and how it was the best ceremony most of our guests ever attended. I also loved that Roberta read the ceremony script from a Kindle! From start to finish, Roberta was an A+.

Roberta was great....she is so flexible, nice, and easy to work with. We had an interfaith(non-religious) ceremony and everyone from both sides(jewish and catholic) said how great the ceremony was. She personalizes it to you so everyone really does listen and see how the two of you are as a person. I would highly recommend Roberta to anyone!!

My ceremony was perfect. Since I am Catholic and my husband is Jewish, we did not know what to expect. She made our ceremony so beautiful. The ceremony was tailored to exactly what we wanted. It was emotive, intelligent, and truly representative of our love. There was not a dry eye in the house. Roberta is not only well versed in wedding traditions, but she spoke from the heart. She delivered her words with such feeling you would think she had known us always. She really listened to us and understoodwhy we wanted to be married and why we love each other. She is a beautiful person, wonderful to work with. We had an amazing wedding, and it is in large part due to the mood that Roberta set when officiating our ceremony. The thing we heard most from family and friends following the wedding (and we still hear) is that we were the happiest bride and groom. How could we not be when the whole reason for the event -- our love -- was presented so eloquently and elegantly in our ceremony! Everyone went to our reception feeling the love!! Just to illustrate the point of how much our ceremony meant to us, I'll share with you that my husband and I have already discussed having Roberta perform a baby welcoming ceremony when that time comes. It is something we will look forward to very much.

Roberta was an absolute pleasure to work with to say the least. To this day our guests are still raving about our ceremony and how beautifully it was conducted. Throughout the process of creating our ceremony Roberta was both considerate of our requests and creative in the areas where we were unsure of what we wanted. When my husband and I decided we did not want a religious ceremony, I feared that our ceremony might perhaps be less spiritual or lose some of the meaning that is found in a traditional religious ceremony. However, after reading just the first draft of the ceremony that Roberta planned for us, we knew that we could not have made a better choice for our officiant. She was able to translate our love and commitment to each other into such a beautiful ceremony and come the wedding day, there was not a dry eye in the crowd =). Jessica and I can not say enough about the time and care that were put into our ceremony. Although we were very "picky" about specifics, Roberta was very patient to listen to our ideas and thoughts. After meeting with us in person, she worked through two drafts of our ceremony along with a number of revisions back and forth. It was a pleasure to communicate through email as Roberta was very quick with all matters. Once we made it to our big day, she took a vested interest in seeing everything through smoothly, calming a tense situation with the groom, and preparing everything so we did not have to worry. We had an interfaith wedding. I'm Irish Catholic and my husband is Jewish. We didn't have a very religious ceremony, but we did combine pieces from both sides and Roberta did a beautiful job of seamlessly blending the two cultures. She also traveled all the way to Montauk for our ceremony and we appreciated her going the distance.

My husband and I really wanted to be married. We did not want our wedding to be a public spectacle due to the economic times; nor did we want the typical "quickie wedding" experience because our intentions were deliberate. We simply wanted to confirm our commitment before God; and despite our hectic schedules, Roberta assisted us in doing that. Dr. Roberta Koepfer did an excellent job officiating our April 17, 2011 wedding. My wife and I wanted to have a complex and highly individualistic ceremony, complete with a string quartet playing on cue during the readings and at certain moments (my wife is a cellist and arranged her own music). We also wanted the mood of the ceremony to be solemn and dignified, but at the same time heartfelt (without being spiritual). We knew that we needed to find an officiant who would act as a partner in making our vision a reality, and in Roberta we found that officiant. She spent a great deal of time getting to know us during our initial meeting, crafted a detailed and very individualized first draft of the ceremony based on that discussion, and then worked with us to polish the ceremony script into exactly what we wanted. When the big day came, almost everything went according to plan. The only hitch was that it was a very windy day, and our unity candle wouldn't light, but Roberta lightened up the mood, and all was well. Our guests, and in particular, our parents, were very impressed with Dr. Koepfer. Most of all, we were very pleased with how the ceremony unfolded, and a lot of the reason why was because of the way Roberta officiated: she was professional and dignified, but at the same time warm and genuine. We really couldn't have asked for a better job from her. If you are looking for an officiant who will go beyond the same tired scripts we've all heard at our friends' weddings, Dr. Koepfer is one of the best options out there in the New York metropolitan area. She had the intelligence to understand exactly what we wanted in a ceremony, and the skill to execute that vision exactly as we intended. And even if you are not sure what you want in a ceremony, she has an wonderful selection of readings and vows to help you make your wedding beautiful and meaningful. This is coming from a groom. My wife gets the credit for finding Roberta - especially since I didn't know what a 'celebrant' or 'officiant' was at the time. Once we decided that we didn't want a religious ceremony, we simply started looking for someone who could perform a memorable ceremony. To put it simply, Roberta is absolutely amazing. I don't know how I could possibly do justice to the beautiful, personalized ceremony she wrote and performed for us.
