A month ago I contacted Sweets of New York to create a sculpted 3D specialty cake for my father's surprise birthday party. Elizabeth and I worked on the design, changing it twice before settling on the perfect cake. We chose flavors and color, and everything was set. The night before the party I was supposed to receive the cake from Elizabeth. An hour before the designated meeting time I received a call from Elizabeth saying that the weather was too humid and would adversely effect the cake; could she please deliver it herself to my parents home in CT the next morning. I initially thought this was very thoughtful. Elizabeth said they would deliver between 10 - 11 AM, as the party started at 1pm. I received no word from Elizabeth until 10:30 AM. She sent a text that she was leaving Brooklyn and would make it by the time of the party. Had Elizabet left then, she would have been here at 12:30. I did not hear from her again until 4:30, although I had repeatedly called, as well as emailed. Elizabeth's text said that she had been in an accident shortly after leaving, that the cake was not damaged, could she still deliver it, and I said yes. Once again, for hours I did not hear from her, although I again called and texted repeatedly. Long after the party was over, at 9 PM a driver from a NYC car service arrived with the cake, and told me he had picked it up in Brooklyn at 7pm and was told to rush to CT asap. Elizabeth SPECIFICALLY told me not to refrigerate the cake as it would ruin the texture. However, the cake was close to FROZEN when it arrived, the butter cream frosting that was supposed to be creamy was hard. This raises questions as to whether there was ever an accident to begin with. On an 80 degree day, when Elizabeth supposedly left at 10:30 AM, how did a frozen cake arrive in CT at 9 PM? It also arrived without the promised ingredient list and slicing directions and it was also not the design we had worked weeks to perfect. I can not recommend the quality of the cake, or Elizabeth's reliability for delivering any product as promised or in a timely fashion. I will never use Elizabeth's Sweet's of New York again.

Our wedding day was complete with a wonderful cake that was created very special for us. The work they did was like no other place. We are glad we went to them for our wedding cake. They are the best.

I echo EVERYTHING Molly posted. My wedding was in September '08 where the wedding cake and passed desserts were to be the hit of the party. My wife and I worked tirelessly with Elizabeth coming up with custom desserts & flavors. We went through numerous rounds of tastings and finally got to the point where we were very happy with the passed desserts. The cake was a different story! We were told repeatedly by Elizabeth, "Don't worry... I know what you mean". The cake and passed desserts were supposed to be delivered to the wedding venue no later then 4pm; 6:30pm ceremony commencement. At 6:20 with my parents by my side ready to walk me down the aisle, my caterer tells me Elizabeth has yet to deliver the passed desserts or wedding cake. I sent numerous text messages and left countless voicemails for Elizabeth to call my caterer's cell phone and work out the logistics. I received 10+ text messages from Elizabeth mentioning the cake left Brooklyn and it should arrive at the venue soon (Editor's note, my venue was in LIC, Queens). Elizabeth wrote in a text something to the effect that the delivery van got into an accident but the cake was not damaged... sound familiar Molly?!?! Eventually, someone dropped off the cake and some passed desserts. My caterer had to grab me from the dance floor and bring me to the kitchen to make sure the cake that was delivered was actually mine. My caterer and wedding planner were confident the person that delivered the cake was intoxicated or high on something. The cake looked like something Miss Piggy would be scared to touch. Aside from the cake looking like nothing my wife & I discussed with Elizabeth, the passed desserts were ALL WRONG. We were supposed to have 8-9 different passed desserts, but only 5 arrived and a couple of them wasn't what I even ordered! It was obvious Elizabeth grabbed whatever was in her fridge. For anyone in the NY Metro area looking for a wedding cake vendor or passed desserts, STAY AWAY FROM ELIZABETH and SWEETS OF NEW YORK!

We searched high and low for an affordable wedding cake that tastes good...as you probably know, even getting an expensive cake that tastes good not an easy thing to find. We found out about SoNY when I saw the Treats Truck driving through Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We loved their stuff so much that my fiance (at the time) asked if they did wedding cakes...they said they didn't but they shared a space w/ Sweets and they gave us their #. From start to finish, the service was excellent. We got personal attention and even had two icing taste-tests. On the big day, the cake arrived - it was gorgeous and everyone freaked out over how delicious it was. It was a vanilla cake with passionfruit and buttercream frosting. It was over-the-top! I can't wait to have the topper on our 1-year anniversary.

Janice and Elizabeth could not have been more accommodating to some of the odd requests that my husband and I made. It was clear they made this cake with us in mind, but not only that it tasted amazing!!!! Everyone commented that it was the only wedding cake that they had ever eaten because it tasted so good.
